KATY VS CEDAR HILL... THE TRILOGY

KATY TIGERS VS CEDAR HILL LONGHORNS
6A DIVISION II STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Very rarely does the sequel live up to the success of the first act. And its less often that the trilogy lives up to the success of the first two.  Well the third time around for Katy and Cedar Hill may be better than the last two title games combined.

Katy won the 2012 5A title game vs Cedar Hill 35-24 behind 5 TD'S from running back Adam Taylor, including two in the 4th quarter to rally from a 24-21 deficit.

Cedar Hill won the rematch in the 2013 title game 34-24, by scoring 24 unanswered second half points against the Tigers.

The 2014 Showdown today features two of the best running backs in the country, and both are headed out of state to play college football.  Katy's Rodney Anderson has over 2,000 yards rushing and is verbally committed to Oklahoma. Cedar Hill's AcaCedric Ware is also a 2,000 yard rusher and is headed to USC.

The key matchup will be the Katy defense (10 ppg) trying to slowdown the high powered offensive attack of Cedar Hill (48 ppg), the same way they shut down Manvel two weeks ago in the state quarterfinals.   Katy linebacker Paddy Fisher was the designated spy on Manvel's dynamic QB Deriq King. King was held to a total of only 181 yards of total offense.  Whether Fisher and the Tigers defense can duplicate that performance against Longhorns QB Justin McMillian (36 TD, 3 INT) will be critical to Katy bringing home the first ever 6A Division II state championship in Texas.

Katy also cannot afford the penalties (10) and turnovers (3) that led to a narrow overtime escape ago Cibolo Steele last week 20-17.  Cedar Hill meanwhile rolls into the title game fresh off a 64-33 rout of Spring Westfield last week.

The trilogy should be epic.
